Default 2009 Maxima Price Prediction Thread

There seems to be a bit of debate going on in the other 2009 Maxima thread about how much the new Maxima may or may not end up costing.

I'm just curious to hear what everyone here thinks the new Max will go for (MSRP).

My guess:

Base Price: $30k
Nicely-equipped w/ most major options: $34-35k
Fully-Loaded w/ every single available option: $38k

This was posted by Motor Trend:

2009 Nissan Maxima 3.5 S/ 3.5 SV
Base Price $28,000-$32,000 (est)

They have said they wanted to keep it as close to the 6th gen as possible...of course the is only an MT estimate.

My guess MSRP:

09 Max S model -- starting $33k
09 Max SV model -- starting $35k

Fully loaded 09 Max -- topping around $40k

First, thanks for starting this thread and for your typically insightful comments in the other thread.

I think your prices here are just a little high. I'll bet the base is about $29,000. Nicely equiped about $33,000, and loaded to the gills will not exceed $36,000 - $37,000. With typical rebates and incentives, I best the actual market prices is several thousand below that.

I'd expect to see a Maxima undercut a similarly priced TL by about $2000.

I agree with Motor Trend's pricing. It should be priced similarly to the 6th gen while undercutting the TL.

My guess:
28-33k.

I haven't been too good at predicting Nissan pricing lately, but I have a feeling Nissan may "pull a Murano" on us with the 2009 Maxima and keep the base pricing pretty much the same as the current 2008 or maybe even lower it. Therefore I am predicting:

Maxima S: $28,000
Maxima SV: $31,000

I do not expect any Maxima model once fully loaded to top $38,000.

I agree with MotorTrend.

I say........
S: $28,500
SV: $32,000-$33,000

I say it will be no more than $37,000 fully loaded. But they may do what they did with Murano and lower the base prices, but fully optioned it will come out more than the 6th Gen by like $1500.

This can't price into G35 territory so I would say that it will start around where MT estimates.

It will be lower in price than the current model.. The 09 Murano is $1,500 cheaper than the 07 Murano..

I would say that pricing is going to the most important factor in the sales of the Maxima, and if it is too expensive it will be a failure. It should be cheaper than the current Maxima and should undercut the TL by a couple thousand.

Imho, they have done a good job on the design; but as mentioned on here many times, the new Maxima has a very narrow field to play on......too expensive means lousy sales.

I'd agree, I can't see Nissan siginficantly raising the price of the Maxima. Maybe a 500 increase or maybe even decrease over the current model. Right out 28K give or take. SV should start at about $30-31k.

One thing to keep in mind is that content has been upped and lowered in some cases.

Maxima S will have the power sunroof (the single one) standard, but will not have fogs standard. Cloth is standard as well. Pricing cannot go up too much because that would turn away typical Maxima buyers...but with the way Nissan plans to offer packages on the Maxima SV (a la Premium, Sport and Tech pkgs) look for prices to quickly skyrocket. Take a look at the Altima 3.5SE base prices are competitive. Add the Premium or Tech. pkgs and prices go up up up.

I'm starting to save my little pennies now so I can get a Maxima at least by next year. Give me the SV with Premium/Sport with the 19s in that Mystic Green color.

The way I read the specs and Nissan press release, the SV with the sport package is the only model with the 19" wheels, whereas the SV with the premium package gets the two roofs.
