Have they ever heard the term "Misinformation"?

I bet they said that about the engine to throw out some misinformation to confuse the debate until it's official release.
That engineer could be fired or seriously demoted for giving out that kind of info.
I still think we are getting the HVQ37TT because they know the aftermarket tuning will be HUGE over here.

Default Infiniti might get its own highly tuned G35 version

Hey folks,

Bet on the v6 Twin Turbo, no separate engines for US. I would not count out a infiniti similiarly spec'd g'coupe a few years down the line. The trend Nissan is setting is that Nissan introduces a more potent engine, and its luxury brand gets something similiar in a different body.

I'm expecting to see a derivative of this egnine show up in something else to offset production and development costs. I expect that it will show up in something else sooner rather then later.

The power competition is getting to fierce amongst manufacturers in sporty segments. Nissan definetly needs a whopper of engine in a few of their sports/sporty cars.

My theory .... Nissan is arranging the HP/TQ totem pole to be this way (not counting SUV's or hybrids):
  1. GT-R
  2. Z
  3. G35 Coupe/M45
  4. G35 Sedan/M35
  5. Altima SE-R
  6. Altima/Sentra SE-R
  7. Sentra
There will be overlaps when new generations are introduced and of course, a new model introduction (new Q or a new 'super-coupe' are possibilities - not givens, just possibilities!)

The GT-R will get the twin turbo V-6. The engineers don't have to be forthcoming on the future of the GT-R and may also enjoy pulling the chain of over-eager gaijin (or are sick and tired of answering the same questions over and over and over ....)

The new VQ (it will be a VQ) will be highly tuneable - otherwise it's not a GT-R!

Man, those big beautiful Brembos make me .... anxious.

But what really gets me going is if the GT-R will have Porsche Turbo-like performance stock (10 PSI?), what is it going to do when you start raising the boost and further modifying the engine and drivetrain!

Ay mamasita!!!! :hsdance:

At a first glance he kind of reminded me of a slimmer Hiro Nakaruma from the T.V. series Hero. This would be the episode when he realizes he didnt need the sword to regain his power. He really needed the great legendary GTR. I think it would fit the script perfectly.

Although I believe the GTR will be sold around the world with the same twin turbo engine, I would actually like to see a "base" model with a NA motor and much cheaper price tag in the range of $40-$50K. However, if that's not an option for Nissan they definitely have to sell it with the TT motor.

The good this is that Nissan is developing technology that they can leverage to get an economy of scale. The success of the GTR will further promote further Nissan/Infiniti performance vehicle.

I would love to see Nissan/Infiniti outline an aggressive roadmap that includes a coupe variants. Personally I would prefer a slightly tamer Infiniti based product targeted at the next M3 or RS4.

Default Vents

I'm not questioning the necessity or functionality of the engine vents just in front of the doors, but I'm just not into them. Didn't notice them till today. Maybe they'll grow on me.

Those are not engine vents - they are outlets for brake cooling. The mask on the front somewhat hides the brake cooling inlets so it might not be apparent to some that the 'gills' in the front fenders are for venting off the heat and gases produced by threshold braking.

It is possible that some engine venting may be achieved, but we don't know for sure - in some cars there would be a firewall or A pillar structure that would preclude using these as engine 'vents' but maybe Nissan has designed that as a secondary purpose of the gills.

The GTR is not an exotic (and is not meant to be) and is definitely not ugly. Now I'm getting a little tired of this "this Nissan is ugly" story

They said the G35 Sedan was ugly when it came out, then complained when it was revised
They said the bumper on the Coupe Concept was ugly, then complained when it was smoothed out

This car has the same basic DNA of the Z and the G-coupe. Neither car is generally considered ugly. The car is not for everyone (Neither is a Porsche by the way), but at least wait until you see it to past judgement.

By the way, where is the lasted Edmund spy video :-)

Has anyone notice the brakes on the car , front ?has to be 6 piston and the rear 4 piston , which means more braking power ,for alot of horse power , whatever engine it has in it has alot more power than any other NISSAN !

I'd say the only thing that the the G37 coupe has in common with the GT-R is the that it has the base motor without the turbos. other than that it's got its own unique interior and exterior and it doesn't have AWD. Which I think would be a great option.

What I was referring to is a base GTR with the GTR chassis and styling. Something like previous Skylines that offered a GTR and a GTS.

Thumbs up

You know, there have only been 3 cars that could make give spew custard in my shorts at the mere sight of them in person. (Chevrolet Corvette, Acura NSX, and the Nissan Skyline.) Then Honda and Nissan both decided to kill those models indefinitely. I was crushed. I felt like a child whose favorite toy was stolen from him.

So when I found out Nissan had plans of resurrecting the Skyline and FINALLY bringing it to states, I was very skeptical.......After seeing these pics and reading the possibly numbers..... I have to tell you guys...... it’s gonna be hell explaining to my girlfriend why I keep skeeting baby batter in my pants everytime we drive by a Nissan dealer ship in 09.
